Friday 30 September
Morning session
- Presentation by Eric Ponthieu, European Commission, DG Research, on the goals and organisation of EU Research Frameworks
- Questions by the citizens and answers by Eric Ponthieu
- Continuation of the presentation of Eric Ponthieu, answers to the eight questions that have been raised by the participants in Vienna:
- Question 1: It was mentioned that urban research serves to become more competitive towards the US and Japan, what is the role of local governance in this regards? Can local results be used to formulate policies for a global context?
- Plenary discussion of question 1
- Question 2: What makes the EU decide on research topics (in the sense of how is this justified, how it is legitimized, why does the EU have these competences ?)

- Question 3: What is the practical output of EU research ? Does research recommend actions?
- Plenary discussion of question 3
- Intervention of Walter Tocci, former Rome Municipality Vice-Mayor and Councillor for transport policy

Afternoon session
- Continuation of the presentation of Eric Ponthieu, answers to the eight questions that have been raised by the participants in Vienna:
- Question 4: EU projects and their results have to be published in order to achieve dissemination. Does this dissemination really work ? Is there a satisfactory success rate of other people taking up the results and recommendations in order to implement them ? Do these people achieve good results ?
- Sub-groups work to elaborate additional questions on the topic of EU research dissemination.
- Plenary discussion on question 4 and additional questions
- Question 5: What is our role in the process as well as in relation to the research projects we are talking about ? What exactly are we asked to do ? On what shall we give our feedback ?
- Question 6: What is going to happen with the results of our work? Who is really interested in the results of our work? What kind of impact will our work have?
- Question 7: Is there going to be a feedback or reaction to the RAISE declaration. If yes, who will react to it and what will the respective institution do after the declaration has been issued?
- Question 8: What about the promotion of the declaration, will you try to attract the media or involve the media?
- Sub-groups work to elaborate about the commitment of the citizens with the European Commission-
